When it comes to the choice of linen among hotel customers, pure cotton bedding is undoubtedly the most popular. Good moisture absorption and breathability, warmth retention, heat resistance, naturalness, cost-effectiveness, etc. are the keys to why pure cotton bedding is widely loved by customers. However, in the overwhelming fabric market, the quality and price of pure cotton materials also vary greatly. What does good, pure cotton linen look like?

  • 100% Cotton

When we buy linen, it is very important to look at the ingredient labels. Generally speaking, only when it is marked 100% cotton can it be considered true, pure cotton linen. When customizing and purchasing, you should also confirm the cotton content with the merchant to prevent cutting corners.

However, there are many sayings on the Internet that anything with a cotton content of more than 70% can be called pure cotton. This is misleading! Only 100% of cotton can be called "pure cotton" or "whole cotton.". Some hotels not only pursue the cotton content but also pay attention to wear resistance and washability, so 70% of cotton is likely to be mixed with polyester, becoming cotton-polyester or polyester-cotton.

  • Gloss

Ordinary pure cotton fabrics have no luster, or the luster is relatively soft. However, if pure cotton is made of long-staple cotton or combed cotton and has a high count and density, the surface will have a certain degree of gloss, and the fabric will feel softer.

  • Printed and soft to the touch

Generally speaking, printing is divided into two types: reactive printing and pigment printing.

Reactive printing is a chemical reaction between dye molecules and cotton fibers. After being washed with a large amount of water, the dye is dissolved into the fibers and feels soft. The paint uses an adhesive to bond the paint and fabric together, so the fabric feels relatively hard and the color is too stiff and not soft. Most hotels will choose pure white linens when choosing linens, except for some theme hotels or hotels with customized needs that will choose printed and dyed linens.

  • High-end fabric texture

In terms of fabric quality, satin is the best. Because although plain weave is durable, the fabric is harder, and the pattern is monotonous. Twill has a soft feel and better luster, but the fabric is not wear-resistant; satin is more luxurious than twill, but the long floating lines are easy to wear, fluff or the fibers are hooked, so pay attention to daily maintenance. Although plain fabric does not feel as good as satin fabric, it is convenient to purchase it for later replenishment. Although satin fabric has a good feel, later purchases and replenishments must be based on a specific pattern, and the budget is high.
