Guest rooms are one of the major sources of revenue for hotels, and the linens used in guest rooms will directly affect guests' experiences of the hotel. Hotel linen is a general term for cotton fabrics, including covers (hotel bed sheet, hotel duvet cover, hotel pillow case), inserts (hotel duvet insert, hotel pillow insert), and towels (face towels, bath towels, and floor towels).

To choose the right linen to enhance the guest experience, you need to start with the following aspects: Linen mainly includes hotel bed sheets, hotel duvet covers, and hotel pillowcases and is in direct contact with the body's skin, directly affecting the guest's sleep and accommodation. Experience: the appropriate fabric should be soft and skin-friendly, smooth and beautiful, and should not feel cold in winter or hot in summer. It should also take into account the service life, cost performance, and matching of the hotel's positioning.

Choosing hotel textiles may seem like a complicated task, but in fact, there are rules to follow. As long as you understand the basic factors, such as material composition, yarn count density, fabric structure, and cotton yarn quality, you can better choose cotton fabrics suitable for the hotel.

  • Material selection

1. Natural fiber

Fibers that exist and grow in nature and have textile value. There are many types of natural fibers, and the four types that have been widely used in textiles for a long time are cotton, linen, wool, and silk. Silk is a precious species of natural fiber, commonly known as the Queen of Fibers.

2. Chemical fiber

A general term for fibers made from natural or synthetic polymer materials and processed by chemical or physical methods. Synthetic fibers, such as polyester, acrylic, etc.; Regenerated fibers, such as viscose, wood pulp fiber, etc. Cotton fiber meets various comprehensive indicators, such as hygroscopicity, softness, strength, etc., and is suitable as a hotel textile fabric. To balance comfort and fastness, we can appropriately add some polyester content to enhance the strength of the fabric. The polyester content should be 20% to 50%.

  • Selection of yarn count and density

The yarn count represents the thickness of the warp and weft yarns and is an important indicator that determines the softness, gloss, etc. of the fabric.

1. Yarn count

We divide the yarn count into coarse-count yarn (below 18s), medium-count yarn (19s~29s), fine-count yarn (30s~60s), and ultra-fine-count yarn (above the 60s). The higher the yarn count and the fiber of the cotton yarn, the softer the hand and the better the gloss.

The critical value of fine-count yarn and ultra-fine-count yarn is the 60s, so we can regard the 60s as an important reference index. By comparison, the fabric woven from '60s yarn has better luster and moderate thickness and takes into account both fastness and comfort, as well as the body's fall in winter and summer. It is a reasonable choice of hotels. You can also adjust and select some ultra-fine yarns from the 1960s and above based on this standard and the hotel's grade.

2. Density

Density represents the number of warp and weft yarns. A reasonable warp and weft density configuration must meet two requirements.

A. The strength of the fabric in the warp and weft directions should be checked. With the same weave, the fabric tightness of fabrics with different yarn counts should be closed. Therefore, as the yarn count increases, the density will increase accordingly. Like:

40sx40s/140x120

60sx40s/173x120

B. The overall fabric tightness needs to take into account the fastness and feel of the fabric and comply with the reasonable ratio of various yarn counts and densities commonly used in hotels.

  • Selection of fabric weave

1. The plain weave has many interweaving points in the warp and weft directions, and the fabric is tight. The fastness is good, the density is low, and the cost is relatively low. The disadvantages are that it feels hard and has a slightly poor gloss.

2. Satin weave has fewer interlacing points, a softer feel, a better gloss, a higher density, and a moderate cost.

3. We can divide the jacquard weave into a small jacquard and a large jacquard. The cost is relatively high, but it is highly decorative and can meet the personalized needs of the hotel.

  • Selection of cotton yarn quality

1. The quality of cotton yarn is divided according to the spinning process: combed, semi-combed, and carded cotton yarn. Combed cotton yarn is the cotton yarn that a carding machine has combed multiple times to remove short fibers and impurities, leaving relatively uniform long fibers. The cotton fibers are neatly arranged, and the surface is smooth and flat. Therefore, fabrics woven with combed cotton yarn have a better feel, luster, and strength, followed by semi-combed and carded.

2. We divide cotton yarn quality according to fiber length: long-staple cotton, fine-staple cotton, and coarse-staple cotton.

A. The fibers of long-staple cotton are thin and long, more than 33mm in length. They are suitable for spinning high-count yarns above 60. The fabrics woven with this fiber have an even texture, a smooth surface, and high strength.

B. The fiber length of fine-staple cotton is medium, between 25mm and 33mm. It is suitable for spinning cotton yarn under 60 seconds, but its various indicators differ from long-staple cotton.

C. The fiber of shag cotton is short and thick, with a general length of less than 23mm. It is suitable for the production of thick fabrics but not for the production of hotel cotton fabrics.

In short, through the analysis of several major indicators, we can conclude that choosing pure cotton, the 60s, satin, and combed fine cotton for hotel linens is a more comprehensive indicator. We believe that the higher the yarn count, the higher the yarn count for hotels with higher grades. There is a certain misunderstanding in this statement that the higher is better. The higher the yarn count, the softer the fabric and the better the luster. However, a high yarn count needs to be matched with a high density. Such fabrics are dense, thin, and slippery. When you first get into bed in winter, you will feel cold, and the human body will feel cold. Winter and summer are different. Summer needs to be smooth and cool, while winter needs to be thick and warm. Therefore, it is most important to choose a reasonable yarn count. Fabrics exceeding 80s will have lower cost performance.
